FROM INSPIRING HOPE TO STARTING FOOD FIGHTS!
Stories of Hope

STORIES OF HOPE

Behind every Breakfast for Learning (BFL) statistic, is a life that holds promise.  This year with your support, BFL helped provide 44 million meals and snacks to 271,663 children.  In addition to these terrific results, it is the stories of students, parents, educators, and volunteers that remind us why we do what we do.  Here is one story we received from a parent.

“As a mother, words cannot express the weight lifted off my shoulders. Because of the nutrition program I know my children will have access to a nutritious breakfast every school day, even if we are struggling financially at home. The nutrition program has blessed our lives in so many other ways. Through the program my daughters are also learning to make healthier food choices and about the importance of eating nutritious food. To help give back, my daughters and I volunteer at the program on Tuesday mornings now, and they are learning the importance of contributing to their community. I hope that as you read this, you can see that there are so many families just like mine, struggling every month to provide the basics for their children and how much we rely on nutrition programs.  Thank You.”

This story reminds us that Breakfast for Learning is improving the lives of children, inspiring hope, and empowering communities to reach their potential … one meal at a time.

#foodfight PART 2!   BFL_TWITTER_500x500_V2.jpg

In March 2014 we acknowledged National Nutrition Month by starting Canada’s first virtual #foodfight to raise awareness about the prevalence of child hunger.  It was such a hit that we’re bringing it back again this year.

One million kids in Canada face hunger every year, which greatly impacts their ability to learn.  The goal of the campaign is to rally Canadians around the issue of child hunger and student success.

Join Canada’s biggest #foodfight from March 23rd to March 27th - spread the word about child hunger and be part of the solution!

DOING GOOD THIS TAX SEASON

#BreakfastMatters

Doing Good This Tax SeasonIt’s time to flex your social media muscles.  Beginning Sunday, March 15th, H&R Block Canada will donate 25 cents to Breakfast for Learning every time #BreakfastMatters is tweeted.  Let’s get social and help H&R Block Canada reach their overall fundraising goal of $65,000 this year.

Donation Matching

Canadians can also make a donation to Breakfast for Learning when they file their taxes at an H&R Block Canada office until April 30, 2015.  To increase the impact, H&R Block Canada will match each gift of $5 or more with a $5 donation.  This is fantastic, considering every $10 donation will help feed one child a healthy breakfast and snack every day for one school week.
